Almost 20 years have passed since the transformation of political system in Poland. That transformation started with the establishment of democratic rules and institutions and now requires that effective contacts be established with the European community to give us equal status of partners for its members. The decisive factor in this area is not the physical effort but the contribution into the world scientific thought, the technical and technological innovations. It is investment in science in Poland that will finally decide about the proper medical care, development of education, culture, and also whether our able youth will build their Polandor the already proverbial Ireland. The level of science, the use of science, and good education of the people will be decisive for our understanding of the world and our ability to act in it.
The Science Promotion Council wants to be a platform of information initiating activities which promote science. We want to support such activities taken by representatives of the world of science in society by presenting science and scientific work as important and creative fields which help build civic society and create an educational bridge while being understandable for everyone. Only in this way will science gain its most important partner: the Poles, no matter how old they are or what their profession or trade is.
